One day when I was twelve, my mom and I went to a doctor’s appointment for testing to see how much I have grown and how fast I grow in a certain amount of time. When the results came in, we knew that I would have to take daily injections to help me grow more. I was worried. I wondered how big the needle would be? How long would I have to take them for? Will it hurt? How long until it starts to work? How do you use it? To answer those questions for you, the needle is pretty small. It's only a few millimeters. I took the injections for about two years. After the first couple injections, my body got used to it. The easypod device was super easy to use. My parents helped me with it for a long time, but after I learned how to do it myself it was no big deal. I even learned to change the cartridges by myself. I usually did the injections before bedtime, and only six days per week. When we went on holidays we were able to bring the medicine with us.
I used to be afraid of needles so I was thinking that I didn't want to do this, but thank goodness for my parents. They knew what the right decision was because if we went with my decision I would still be short and I would still be afraid of needles. If you’re in the same place as me, I have three pieces of advice. First, I would take the injections. Second, when you’re taking your injections, eat lots of healthy food and sleep lots too. And last, I strongly suggest for you to use an ice pack. I used an ice pack on the injection site so I wouldn’t feel the needle as much. (Don’t leave it on too long, or you might just get frostbite. I learned that the hard way!) It made my experience a lot easier. I sure learned a lot with my experience with the easypod.
